JWALA- Women’s Cell

The women’s cell in Universal Engineering College is named JWALA. Members include lady students and female staff members in the college. The cell was inaugurated by chief guest Adv. K N Sinimol,Special public prosecutor, Fast track special court, Irinjalakuda on 21 December 2021  at Seminar hall Block B. Dr. Jose K Jacob (Principal, UEC) presided over the program.  Ms. Bindumol V G (HOD,CE) is the convener of the cell.

Events conducted

A seminar on the topic “Women and Law” on 21 December 2021.

Adv. K N Sinimol handled the session.  It was a very interactive session and the audience got the opportunity to understand about various laws that help for the protection of women rights.The speaker also shared her thoughts about Women empowerment.  

Event 2

JWALA, the women’s cell of Universal Engineering College conducted a live orientation workshop on ATL Gaming Solution and “SheCodes Innovation Program on 9 February 2022 at 7.00 pm in online platform. Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog in collaboration with Dell Technologies and Learning Links Foundation has launched “ATL Gaming Platform & “SheCodes Innovation Program. It is a learning opportunity that introduces students across the country to an interactive and immersive platform for game development and is to help the girl students build leadership, collaboration & communication skills and empower and educate them. The key features are Build the foundation skills amongst the girl students, Effective use of the disruptive technology tools available in ATLs.. The speaker Ms. Urvasi Guptha led the session. The students from first, third and fifth semester got an opportunity to participate in this program. It was a very informative and interactive session.

Event 3

Jwala, the women’s cell, UEC celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March 2022 at Seminar Hall B block at UEC. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The function started with a prayer song by S8 Civil Engineering students Aswani C K and Maneesha M M. Ms. Bindumol V G, Convenor of Jwala extended a gracious welcome to the gathering and conveyed the women’s day message and theme of IWD 2022. Dr. Jose K Jacob addressed the gathering and gave a speech on the significance of the day. The day was made colourful by the cultural programmes of faculties and students. Many programmes were organized including honoring the senior women staff members, She- talks, a Google form was circulated among the employers and students to express their views on how and what she needs to empower herself and quiz programmes based on successful women of the 21st century and government schemes for supporting women followed by the cash prize distribution. A box was also installed in the main block to address the concerns and worries of women.

Event 4

Seminar on Women and Rights

JWALA (Women Cell, UEC)  in association with Internal Complaint Cell conducted a seminar on topic ‘Women and Rights’. The speaker of the seminar was Ms. Aswathy P. Sajeev, Asst. Professor, ME Department, UEC. It was on 17th March 2022 at B Block Seminal Hall. Before the starting of seminar the gathering was addressed by Dr. K.K. Narayanan (Director, IQAC) and Mr. Francis P.A. (HoD, Dept. of  ME), ICC convener . The Session was very interactive and the audience got the opportunity to understand about various laws that help for the protection of women rights. The speaker also shared her thoughts about Women empowerment.  

Final year students and staff members from various departments of Universal Engineering College attended the program. The program ended at 4.30 pm with a vote of thanks by Anjana (student, S5 CSE).
